hm. sorry for the flakiness w/ updates. have been v. scatterminded as of late...opps. slippery slope =b
small leaks sink ships | sackcloth in ashes -->they're like a more stripped down version of "five iron frenzy" meets "the mars volta"
kt tunstall | silent sea -->she's that awesome chick that sings that "horse and cherry tree" song. i really like the smoothness of this song. think of it as norah jones, but better...much better.

sigh. i love idlewild...unfortunately, i do not love the fact that everytime i mention them, people ask if there's a movie w/ the same name...yes. there is. but the scottish group is much better xD
youtube link to their newest video...ahh. it's such a good single. can't wait for the new album
i'll post older idlewild stuff when i get home. i less than three them.
[p.s. have i mentioned my love for pitchfork?]
//edit//:
idlewild | live in a hiding place [from their "the remote part" album]

so i totally was going to post metric except i'm in a mellow mood so....instead i'm bringing you:
band of horses | the end's not near -> who's lead singer sounds disturbingly like flaming lips. i must admit, when i first heard them, i thought they were flaming lips...take fr. that what you will. but yeah..i must admit, i'm a bit torn about ppl liking indie music b/c they listened to it on the oc. b/c i'm like..you're not really indie >_< but technically, they're listening to it...hm.
jose gonzales | heartbeats -> i'm so in love w/ his voice. holy crap he's amazing and so's the album. it was just released last year and it's called "veneer." go check it out...
and the above song is a cover of the knife:
the knife | you take my breath away -> which is an awesome swedish electronic grp. oh i heart them. this song is off their "deep cuts" album [which is the same as the covered song that i was feeling too lazy to post...lawl], but their latest: "silent shout" is pretty damn awesome.
//edit://okay...got over myself and u/l-ed it b/c the juxtaposition is really amusing. the knife | heartbeats...especially since i had previously u/l-ed the first knife song..AH embarrassing *dies*

hey kiddos. so since people have expressed sorrow at the lack of updating, i figured i'd give this thing another whirl since i have fun doing it anyways. so...for my pseudo-revival, i bring you 5 songs:
scissor sisters | it can't come quickly enough -> off their self titled album. i luff this group. they're just so great and high-energy. i can only imagine how awesome they would be live. *_* this song has this one amazing line: "we knew all the answers and we shouted them like anthems." how gorgeously appropriate is that?
incubus | anna molly -> off their "light grenades" album. i'm sure incubus doesn't need an introduction since lord knows they're mainstream enough. i have to admit i was quite disappointed w/ their "a crow left of the murder" album but i feel like this song is redemption enough.
meg and dia | monster -> off their "something real" album. meg and dia are this pretty cool korean am. group. to be honest, i don't like the rest of their album but maybe it's my neediness that this song speaks to. either way, i really like it. makes me want to drive in a car and sing along very loudly to it.
the cinematics | break -> off their "a strange education" album, which strangely hasn't come out yet officially but is on itunes nevertheless. O_o hm. ah well, no complaints. they are this awesome scottish grp. yay for scottish men!! they definitely have bested franz ferdinand in my book. their sound is a bit like a mesh b/w "rock kills kid" with less emo "snow patrol"-ness. "it's from this place that we'll find our peace and reconcile our bitterness." hahaha. that's definitely something that i'll need to be doing =b
farrah | dumb dumb ditty -> off some album [lawl. fail...] they and this song is so much fun. it's definitely a snarky head bobbing song. yay for uk power pop!!
...next time will be a metric-filled fest. =]

depeche mode | home depeche mode | the bottom line depeche mode | love thieves depeche mode | useless depeche mode | sister of night
...haha. opps. i u/l-ed almost half of the album. . .
oh ps. so i was invited to try their business vers. for a month for free so now d/l's are good for 2 wks if you get behind =] not that i'm furiously updating by any stretch of the imagination. . .

soo...i don't know why i have yet to upload rilo kiley (at least i don't think i have yet) b/c jenny lewis is so cute xD someone throw out a comment about how her new group, jenny lewis and the watson twins, is b/c i have yet to give them a shot. to help give some context, she was the female singer in postal service...they also sing the theme song to grey's anatomy..and most importantly, i like them an awful lot =D
from their "more adventurous" album, rilo kiley | i never from their "take offs and landings" album, rilo kiley | pictures of success

so i'm really into this ny band called brand new they're kind of like a more rock version of all american rejects...w/ better lyrics. hahaha. i'm jealous that grotius saw them in concert!! [but at least i didn't have to sit through chris carrabba's whining for the next hr =b]
brand new | jaws swimming theme brand new | sic transit gloria...glory fades brand new | okay i believe you but my tommy gun don't
p.s. as a treat, my brother uploaded music for me so all y'alls are welcome to the extra d/ls...they're albums...whee!!
scissor sisters: so i've uploaded stuff but basically first album is like upbeat indie synth and the second album is...hm. different, much more poppy sounding debut album: scissor sisters sophmore album: ta dah!
herbert: just try not to bob your head. it's such feel good indie music scale

sorry i've been super flaky w/ updates..opps! i missed another day...but this song sums up my yesterday. w00t for indie synth. check out from the faint's "wet from birth" album:
the faint | paranoiaattack --> except like replace everything that induces paranoia in the song w/ "physics" and "studying in general" x_X zomg. nervous breakdown yesterday
and here's another song for today..
from the we are scientists' "with love and squalor" album, we are scientists | lousy reptuation
and here's some more hard-fi b/c they blow my motherf**king mind they're so good hard-fi | feltham is singing out
and woah. sorry about how adhd/dsylexic i am in this entry

i'm amused that they were so popular at rasputin's that they ended up reclassifying them from "indie" to straight up "rock." lawl. this is fr. their "as far as the eye can see..." album
people in planes | narcoleptic

so i loved their junior album, "start static" [can you use that term..i know freshman and sophmore work..lawl] anyways...i feel kind of guilty b/c i've had their fourth album for ages, "palm trees and power lines" for forever and i've just never gotten around to listening to it..but i must say, this track definitely grabbed me. it's like this perfectly mellow piece that's just...i don't know, awesome. check it out.
sugarcult | counting stars

today, ladies and gents, i bring you the honorary title. who quite frankly, rock my socks. think more indie/folk version of elliott smith meets jeff buckley.
from their debut self-titled album, the honorary title | dilute
from their sophmore album, "anything else but the truth" [which btw gets props for some of the most damnably disturbing art i've ever seen...] the honorary title | cut short the honorary title | revealing too much
